Question 1

What is Current University?

Accepted Answer

Current University is a free, self-paced course site. Lessons were drafted with AI assistance and edited by a person, and courses are updated daily with dated, sourced notes on what changed. 53 courses are open today across 7 schools; 50 more are named and waiting for their lessons.

Question 2

Is it really free?

Accepted Answer

Yes, completely free. There are no tuition fees, no hidden costs, and no premium tiers. Our mission is to make quality education accessible to everyone.

Question 3

Is Current University accredited?

Accepted Answer

No. Current University is not an accredited institution and grants no degrees, credit or, at present, certificates.

Question 4

Who writes the courses?

Accepted Answer

Lessons are drafted with AI assistance and edited by a person, who also decides when a course is written well enough to open. Each course shows when it was last updated; the daily "what changed" notes are written by AI from cited sources, checked by software, and labeled AI-reviewed update.

Question 5

Are there certificates?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. When they exist, a certificate will be a record of the lessons and chapter exams you completed, not a credential. The Certificates page says exactly what exists today.

Question 6

Can employers verify anything?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. There is no verification service. Your progress is saved only in your own browser.

Question 7

What languages are available?

Accepted Answer

The menus, the AI counselor and the discussion rooms work in more than 30 languages, and the welcome pages are written in 30 of them, including Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, German, Italian and Russian. Lesson text is in English.

Question 8

How long does it take to complete a course?

Accepted Answer

Courses are self-paced. Most have five chapters of four lessons; at an hour or two a week, a course takes roughly the number of weeks shown on its page.

Question 9

Do I need any prerequisites?

Accepted Answer

Most introductory courses have no prerequisites. Some advanced courses recommend completing foundational courses first.

Question 10

Can I study on my phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Current University is fully responsive and works on phones, tablets, and computers.

Question 11

Is the content reliable?

Accepted Answer

Lessons can contain errors. They were drafted with AI assistance and edited by a person; check anything that matters against a primary source, and tell us when you find a mistake.

Question 12

How do I get started?

Accepted Answer

Just pick a program or course and start learning! No applications, no accounts required.

Question 13

How do the courses update themselves?

Accepted Answer

Every day we scan the latest information in every field. When something materially changes what a course teaches, the course gets a dated note of two to four sentences with at least two source links, labeled AI-reviewed update. A note publishes by itself only if its sources are live, from reputable domains and less than 30 days old; otherwise it waits for a person. Any note can be reported, and three reports hide it. Lesson text is not rewritten silently.
